How to do it
Steps | Suggested time |
---|---|
Call on a first student and ask them a question. Don’t give a positive or negative reaction to their response. | 1–2 minutes |
Choose a second student, and ask if they agree with the first answer. If they do, ask them to try to improve the answer. If not, ask them to give their own response to the question. | 1–2 minutes |
Call on a third student. If the first two were mostly in agreement, ask if they agree and have anything to add or revise. If the answers so far are different, ask who they agree with more, and why. | 1–2 minutes |
Reinforce to the class which parts of the responses are strongest, and clarify any potential misunderstandings. | 1–5 minutes |
